Upgraded to Wordpress 2.5

I upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 this evening. I am not really sure why I went to the trouble of doing this, since I am now a contributor to the Habari project, and would like to get my blog on that new platform soon. However, I wanted to see what all the fuss was with the new admin interface for Wordpress. I guess I am not as offended by the blue tones of the admin as other designers seem to be. In fact, I find it quite soothing. Still, I don’t like that category selection is now “below the fold”. And the tagging interface seems to be begging for tag clutter, since it doesn’t list any previously used tags.

The reason I did not immediately jump to Habari is that I am still rather fond of K2’s advanced search and navigation features, and these have not made their way to Habari yet. Ironically, these features now seem to be broken after upgrading to WP 2.5. This may mean that I am going to change over to Habari sooner rather than later.

UPDATE: I got the search and nav features to work again by following the suggestion in this thread.

Theme update

I am in the middle of updating my theme. I am doing it “live”, so it is very much a work in progress and many things might be broken or look funny. I am liking the black and white look, though.

Upgraded to Wordpress 2.3

I just upgraded this morning. Of course this means that my theme is broken, so I am leaving with the k2 default in order to motivate me to do something about it

Site Update

As you can see, I’ve done a bit of updating in the last couple days. I upgraded to Wordpress 2.0 and switched to the K2 theme. I’m actually using a K2 style which I found by browsing the binary bonsai group on flickr called Fork. I also like this theme called Snapshot, so I might consider switching to that at some point.

I also installed a number of plugins that have “built-in” support in the K2 theme: Ultimate Tag WarriorExtended Live Archives, and Brian’s Latest Comments.

The move to WordPress

As part of moving to a new web host, I’m also trying out some new blogging software, Wordpress. I seem to have successfully imported all the old entries. I’m not sure if I will stick with this template, but so far I like it as much or more than MovableType.

UPDATE: Now that I have switched to WordPress, I haven’t found any pre-build templates that I am terribly happy with. So, it is probably time to build my own. In the meantime, please excuse the use of the default template.
